Be as Little Children

Be as little Children

What if you were told today that a little child could be the best in your work place. What if they told you that a little child would excel further than any adult that worked there. You would probably tell that person that they were crazy for even thinking that. What if someone told you that a little child could kick your butt at any video game because they were better at it than you. You would think they were crazy as well.

Well even though we know that little children couldn’t do these things there is something they do better than all of us. They are perfect in the eyes of our Lord. Yes it’s true little children are God’s favorite. Sorry to tell you this but don’t worry He still loves you. Jesus’s disciples were reminded of this a couple of times.
One instance occurs in Matthew 18:1-6 1) At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2) and Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3) And said, Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5) and whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6) But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

So you can see that Jesus wasn’t messing around or joking about the little children. He said that if you offend a child that you would be better off to hang a millstone around your neck and be drowned in the depth of the sea. That sounds like a pretty bad punishment for just offending a little child that believed in Christ.

Now just hearing that from Jesus you would think that his disciples would learn the first time but they didn’t. If you read a little further you find out they made this mistake of offending children again:
Matthew 19:13,14
13) Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 14) But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven
.

So as you go through life trying to build your relationship with Christ remember that maybe you don’t always need to try to be grown up, but sometimes you might need to become as humble as a little child.
Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow, black, and white
They are precious in his sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world

Mark 10:15 Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
